The Ultimate Disney Fan Event Makes its Way to Southeast Asia

This news is music to a Disney Adult’s ears! Next year, for the first ever, The Walt Disney Company is bringing their highly-awaited fan event called D23 to Southeast Asia.

Singapore will host D23 Asia: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, a one-of-a-kind celebration giving fans exclusive first access to the latest Disney news, along with panels and discussions about upcoming Disney Parks, shows, events, and movies. For Filipino fans, this means getting closer than ever to experiencing the magic of D23 without having to fly halfway across the world.

Here are 5 reasons to be excited about D23 coming to Southeast Asia:

1. D23 is the Disney Fan Event

If you’re unaware of just how massive D23 is, just know that it has evolved from a simple official fan club into one of the biggest celebrations of Disney storytelling and fandom in the world. Fans from across the globe travel for this immersive multi-day event, which brings them closer to the worlds of Disney through live presentations, special announcements, interactive experiences, and specially curated merchandise. Think Comic Con, but for everything under the Disney umbrella.

2. First Time in Southeast Asia

While D23 previously held events in Tokyo in the 2010s, this marks the first time the event is coming to Southeast Asia.

“Bringing D23 to Singapore reflects the incredible passion of Disney fans across Asia Pacific and our desire to meet them where they are,” said Asad Ayaz, Chief Marketing and Brand Officer of The Walt Disney Company.

Jean Ng, Assistant Chief Executive of the Experience Development Group at the Singapore Tourism Board, added: “We are excited to bring D23 to Southeast Asia for the very first time. Together with Disney, we will be creating memorable experiences that resonate with fans across the region and beyond.”

3. Get Up Close and Personal with the Stars

One major draw of D23 is that it serves as the stage where Disney Studios previews upcoming projects, often with the stars themselves making appearances.

At the 2024 edition in Brazil, names like Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, David Harbour, Anthony Mackie, Rami Malek, and Rachel Zegler all appeared to introduce their upcoming films. For now, fans can only speculate about who might make the trip to Singapore in 2027.

4. Get the Latest Disney News

Beyond celebrity appearances, D23 is also where Disney unveils trailers, announcements, and updates for its biggest upcoming titles. Fans can expect news from Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, Pixar, Disney+, Disney Animation, 20th Century, and more, with attendees often getting exclusive first looks before trailers and announcements are released online.

During D23 Brazil, for example, Disney revealed new details about Zootopia 2, screened sneak peeks for several Marvel Studios projects, and unveiled a first look at the live-action Lilo & Stitch adaptation. It’ll be interesting to see what surprises Disney has planned for D23 Asia.

5. Join a Loving Community of Disney Fans

Whether you love Disney Parks, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or animated classics, D23 is shaping up to be a major gathering place for fans across the region.

“D23 Asia will bring these fans together as a community to celebrate the powerful connection they have with our stories, characters, and experiences, and to get an exciting look at what lies ahead,” Ayaz said.

Carol Choi, Executive Vice President of Integrated Marketing & APAC Original Strategy at The Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific, added that “D23 Asia in Singapore aspires to deliver a reimagined experience created specifically for Asia while staying true to the scale, creativity, and fan-first spirit that define D23 events worldwide.”

So Disney fans, start planning that Singapore trip because D23 Asia is officially happening in 2027. More details, including ticketing and programming information, will be announced at a later date.
