Kevin Quiambao is KBL Rookie of the Year

Metro Manila, Philippines – Kevin Quiambao continues his rise on the international stage after winning the Rookie of the Year award in the Korean Basketball League (KBL). 

The KBL made the announcement on Thursday, April 9, on its social media pages.

The former De La Salle University standout averaged 15.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and four assists for the Goyang Sono Skygunners.

Quiambao is the third consecutive Filipino to nab the highest individual honor for first year players in the KBL, joining RJ Abarrientos (formerly with Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus and now with Barangay Ginebra in the PBA) and JD Cagulangan of the Suwon KT Sonicboom. 

The Skygunners finished at fifth place in the team standings with a 28–26 win-loss record, and will take on the Seoul SK Knights in a best-of-three quarterfinals series.
