DFA advises passport release delay over logistics, supply disruptions

Metro Manila, Philippines –  The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has warned of delays in the release of new passports, citing logistical and supply chain disruptions linked to the Middle East crisis

In an advisory on Wednesday, April 8,  the DFA said passport applications filed from the last week of March may take a longer process period, now up to 15 working days.

The agency said the delays are tied to constraints affecting passport production systems, including supply chain issues impacting the printing of ePassports.

“The department is closely working with the third-party service provider for the printing of the ePassports on resolving the current delays and ensuring that passport operations normalize as soon as possible,” the DFA said.

The Middle East crisis has disrupted global logistics networks, including the movement of goods and materials, prompting several governments to adjust operations dependent on international supply chains.

The DFA advised applicants to plan accordingly and allow more time for processing, especially those with upcoming travel.

For urgent or emergency consular needs, the agency said applicants may contact its Office of Consular Affairs in Aseana City in Paranaque City, or reach out to DFA consular offices nationwide through official channels.

The department also provided hotlines for passport appointments and other consular inquiries, as it works to address the backlog and restore normal processing timelines.
