Metro Manila, Philippines – Don Trollano knocked down a clutch three-pointer to help the San Miguel Beermen pull off an 85-82 comeback win over Barangay Ginebra in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup on Sunday, April 5, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Trollano sank a corner triple with 8.3 seconds left in the fourth quarter to secure the Beermen’s third victory in five outings. He finished the contest with 12 points.
In the final play, Ginebra import Justin Brownlee missed a three-point attempt, while Scottie Thompson’s desperate shot went wide as time expired.
Ginebra led by as much as 15 points early in the game, and was ahead by 10 points in the fourth period when San Miguel went on a rampage with CJ Perez leading the rally and dropping 15 of his 20 points in the process.
Justin Patton added 19 points and 17 rebounds for the Beermen.
Brownlee had 31 points, while RJ Abarrientos tallied 16 points for Ginebra, which fell to 2-2 in the team standings.
San Miguel will next battle the league-leading Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on April 8 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
Ginebra, meanwhile, will aim to bounce back against the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots on April 10 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
