Authorities arrest 3 Filipinos in UAE over war-related videos – DMW

Metro Manila, Philippines –  The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Tuesday, March 17, said three – instead of two – Filipino workers were arrested by authorities in the United Arab Emirates in connection with alleged online posts related to missile attacks.

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac reminded overseas Filipinos to abide by host country protocols and security regulations.

“Refrain or do not video nor post such images of attacks,” said Mendoza.

He said the department and the Philippine Embassy in UAE are providing legal aid and other forms of assistance to the arrested persons.

Cacdac said the government is communicating with the families of the three Filipinos.

The UAE law prohibits the posting or sharing of material that could “disrupt public order.”

Local authorities, including the Dubai police, have warned that “photographing or sharing security or critical sites, or reposting unreliable information, may result in legal action and compromise national security and stability.”
