Metro Manila, Philippines – The Department of Energy (DOE) on Thursday said the retailing of fuel products in fuel-grade drums or containers is still allowed.
It said consumer purchases must be consistent with normal operational requirements, and proper safety measures for fuel dispensing must be observed.
The Energy Department said the advisory covers fishing vessels and marine equipment operators, as well as sea transport services.
It also listed facilities that use generator sets, such as hospitals and local government units, as well as agricultural machinery and equipment users, telecommunications providers, and port service transport units.
“Purchases must remain proportionate to a customer’s usual consumption and actual operational needs,” it said, reminding the public that transactions that significantly exceed normal buying patterns may be subject to verification in line with anti-hoarding regulations.
The agency reminded fuel retailers that transactions must make sure that the purchased volume is consistent with the buyer’s declared purpose or established consumption pattern.
Violations may be reported directly to the agency or through the newly launched electronic complaint form via the “Gas Station Concerns” tab in the eGovPH application.
