UAAP: DLSU Lady Spikers survive Adamson Lady Falcons scare to continue perfect run

Metro Manila, Philippines – The De La Salle University Lady Spikers were pushed to their limits for the first time, overcoming a pesky Adamson University Lady Falcons side with a thrilling five-set victory, 19-25, 25-20, 25-21, 13-25, 15-5, in the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday, March 11, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Shevana Laput had 26 points on 19 attacks, six blocks, and an ace, while Angel Canino tallied with 19 points on 12 excellent digs and 11 excellent receptions for the Lady Spikers.

With the game hanging in the balance in the fifth set, La Salle unleashed eight straight points to secure its sixth consecutive win in as many outings this season.

Shane Reterta put on the finishing touches for the Lady Spikers, scoring four of her 10 points in the deciding set. 

Frances Mordi and Shaina Nitura led the Soaring Falcons with 22 points and 21 points, respectively.

Adamson absorbed its third defeat after six games so far.

La Salle will try to end its first round campaign with an unscathed record against the defending champions National University Lady Bulldogs, while Adamson tackles the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons. Both games will be played on March 15 at the MOA Arena.
