2 killed, 1 in critical condition in Rizal helicopter crash

Metro Manila, Philippines – Two people were killed and one critically injured after a private helicopter crashed in Rizal province on Tuesday, March 3.

The Bell 505 chopper, en route from Manila to Quezon province, had five passengers, including two foreign nationals, when it went down at 7:27 a.m., said Pililla, Rizal Mayor John Masinsin.

Two other passengers suffered minor injuries and are in stable condition.

Two of the victims were brought to Rizal Provincial Hospital (RPH) in Morong town, while one was taken to RPH in Binangonan.

“May assigned unit na rin po tayo per patient para mas madali nating ma-monitor ang kanilang condition at ma-coordinate nang maayos sa kanilang mga kamag-anak,” said Masinsin.

[Translation: We have assigned a specific unit for each patient to better monitor their condition and to ensure proper coordination with their relatives.]

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines is investigating the cause of the crash.
