Metro Manila, Philippines – Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon will sign a department order making promotions and appointments at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) based on basic requirements and three technical performance criteria.
The criteria include: (1) timely repair and maintenance of roads and bridges; (2) quick response to damage caused by calamities and disasters; and (3) timely completion of projects.
In a press conference on Feb. 16, Dizon said the DPWH will be “very strict” in monitoring the performance of public works employees to ensure that no projects are delayed or left unfinished.
“Kapag sila ay hindi pumasa dito, tanggal sila o papalitan sila immediately.” Dizon said, noting that performance will be evaluated annually.

“Ayoko na makarinig ng bagong project na sisimulan hanggat hindi natatapos nang maayos at nang mabilis ang matagal ng nakatenggang proyekto,” he added.
[Translation: I do not want to hear about new projects being started unless long-delayed projects are completed properly and quickly.]
