Marcos to attend UN General Assembly special session next month

Metro Manila, Philippines –  President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will visit New York next month to deliver a message at a special session of the United Nations General Assembly and attend the opening of the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), Malacañang announced Monday, Feb. 9.

During the March 8 to 11 working visit, Marcos is also expected to meet with UN officials to discuss international cooperation on key issues, Palace press officer Claire Castro said in a briefing.

“The president will participate in the opening of the CSW and deliver a message at the UN General Assembly special session,” Castro said. “He will also hold meetings with several UN officials during the visit.”

The CSW is a global intergovernmental body promoting gender equality, and women rights and empowerment.

Marcos had visited the US five times since taking office, the most frequent for a country.

His recent trip was in July 2025, when he met with US President Donald Trump to discuss impending tariffs on Philippine exports.
