Metro Manila, Philippines – Filipino drag artist and “Drag Race” alum Marina Summers has revealed she has started her transition to becoming a woman, happily sharing to her supporters her journey of becoming “more honest” with herself.
Marina shared the news on her social media pages on Saturday, Feb. 7, but the drag queen said she has been sitting on the update for a long time.
“After years of questioning and pushing back, I finally made the beautiful decision to begin social transitioning early 2025,” she said.
“That journey led me to start my hormone replacement therapy (HRT) later that year — and I would say it’s one of the best things that has ever happened to me,” she said.
According to Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, hormone therapy for transgender and gender-fluid people can improve “mental well-being and quality of life by more closely aligning someone’s outer appearance with their gender identity.”
Marina said she has always felt feminine since her childhood years, but becoming her true self felt something she could get to “later” and could be gently pushed aside to catch her dreams first.
The drag performer said she needed space to “feel it, to heal, to simply exist in my own skin without the outside noise” before opening her door a little wider and letting the public into her journey.
“From hereon, I’d love for you all to get to know me more as the woman I’m becoming. Hello again my friends, it’s me, Marina,”she said.
“There’s still so much to learn. I don’t have everything figured out. But I do know I want to be more honest with you and myself,” she added.
Marina, 29, became well-known after becoming a runner-up on the maiden season of the reality competition series “Drag Race Philippines” in 2022.
In 2024, she was among the finalists of “RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs The World.” While she did not emerge as the winner in the international competition, fans loved Marina for her fierce lip-synch performances.
