Metro Manila, Philippines – ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Edvic Yap, a key figure in the multi-billion peso flood control corruption scam, has stepped down as a member of the House of Representatives.
“For the information of the body, we are in receipt of a letter from Rep. Edvic Yap of ACT-CIS Party-list informing the House of Representatives of his resignation as member of the House,” Leyte 3rd district Rep. Anna Veloso Tuazon announced at the end of the plenary session on Wednesday, Feb. 4.
In light of the resignation, the Office of the Secretary General was directed to drop Yap from the roll of members.
Yap is the brother of Benguet Rep. Eric Yap, who served as chairman of the powerful House appropriations committee under the Duterte administration.
In December, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. himself announced that the Anti-Money Laundering Council had frozen the assets of the Yap brothers and the construction firms allegedly tied to them.
Marcos flagged at least P16 billion in government transactions of Silverwolves Construction Corp, linked to Edvic’s brother, from 2022 to 2025.
He said many of these were related to anomalous infrastructure projects by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
