Revilla’s non-bailable malversation arraignment reset to Feb. 9

Former Sen. Bong Revilla at the Sandiganbayan on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

Metro Manila, Philippines – The Sandiganbayan 3rd division has reset the pre-trial and arraignment of former Sen. Bong Revilla for his non-bailable malversation charges to Feb. 9, in relation to the anomalous and non-existent P92.8 million flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.

The postponement came as the court received a number of motions from Revilla’s camp, as well as his co-accused in the flood control scam.

Revilla’s counsel submitted motions to quash the information and arrest warrant against the former senator.

The camp of accountant Juanito Mendoza also filed the same motions, as well as a motion to consolidate the graft and malversation cases.

The arraignment for graft is set at 1:30 pm on Friday, Jan. 23.

The court ordered the prosecution to submit its comment until Jan. 28 on the separate motions.

Pending decision, Sandiganbayan 3rd division Associate Justice Ronald Moreno said the court already assumed jurisdiction on the case after the Ombudsman filed the case with them.

Meanwhile, the Sandiganbayan also inspected the New Quezon City Jail Male and Female dormitories in the wake of appeals from the accused to be transferred to another detention facility.

Revilla requested to be detained at the PNP Custodial Center for security concerns, while engineer Emelita Juat wants to remain in the Bulacan provincial jail for family reasons.
