Atong Ang No. 1 most wanted; DILG seeks Interpol Red Notice

Metro Manila, Philippines — Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla tagged businessman Atong Ang as the country’s No. 1 most wanted fugitive, with authorities already requesting the issuance of an International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) Red Notice.

“Kasama po si Atong Ang sa maituturing natin na number one most wanted sa buong Pilipinas ngayon. He’s accused of killing over 100 missing sabungeros and he is considered armed and dangerous,” Remulla said on a briefing Thursday, Jan. 15

[Translation: Atong is among those we consider as the number one most wanted in the whole Philippines right now. He’s accused of killing over 100 missing cock fighting enthusiasts and he is considered armed and dangerous.]

Remulla said the entire police force is on a manhunt for Ang.

Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Director Alexander Moricio III said a request for a Red Notice has already been filed with the Interpol National Central Bureau in Metro Manila.

“Although our recent monitoring is that he is still in the country, we have also requested with the NCB Manila a Red Notice in case makalabas ng bansa si Atong Ang,” Moricio said.

A Red Notice authorizes personnel in other member countries to arrest a fugitive and deport him to the requesting member country.

Reward for arrest

Remulla also announced a ₱10-million reward for information that would lead to Ang’s conclusive arrest.

“₱10-million peso reward. No questions asked, basta ikaw ang nagbigay ng impormasyon [as long as you gave the information] leading directly to the arrest,” the secretary said.

Remulla said  the police are authorized to “do what they can to protect themselves” against the businessman since he is considered “armed and dangerous.”

The DILG chief said the businessman, whose firearm license had been revoked, goes around with at least 20 body guards that make him a security threat.

“Sanay po yan sa marahas na pagharap sa autoridad. Sanay po yan sa mangahas na paraan para masolusyonan ang kanyang mga problema,” Remulla said.

[Translation: He is used to violently confronting authority. He is used to deceptive ways in solving his problems.]

Remilla said there “will be no extrajudicial killing” in the manhunt.

Meanwhile, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said even if Ang’s cases are archived due to the non-issuance of a warrant, the charges may remain active for up to two decades.

In December 2025, the DOJ filed formal charges against Ang before several regional trial courts over the disappearance of several “sabungeros” or cockfight enthusiasts who have been missing since 2022.
