Metro Manila, Philippines – Ombudsman Boying Remulla said on Thursday, Jan. 8, he has tapped the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to look into social media claims about his supposed hospitalization, calling it a possible “orchestrated campaign.”
In his first briefing for 2026, Remulla said he feels well amid posts that he was rushed to the hospital last week.
“I think I’m okay. I work out every day. I sleep early. I wake up early,” he said.
Remulla said he asked the NBI to investigate where the claims originated from, adding that it has “reached the limit of cyberlibel.”
The ombudsman also said circulating allegations about his health may be part of a propaganda.
“There’s really an orchestrated campaign. I don’t know for what purpose, pero tingin ko (but I think) it’s part of the propaganda machine of some political parties,” he said.
Remulla underwent a quintuple bypass surgery in 2023 when he was justice secretary.
Last year, he revealed that he was diagnosed with leukemia after surviving the surgery, but has recovered after treatment.
