1. WWE on Netflix

Netflix Philippines becomes the new home of dropkicks, suplexes, and body slams as pro-wrestling powerhouse WWE makes its grand entrance on the streamer this month. Fans can look forward to weekly shows Raw and SmackDown, along with WWE’s biggest live events including WrestleMania and the Royal Rumble. It’s the best of sports entertainment, bringing the brightest WWE Superstars back to Pinoy screens.

2. The Housemaid

Based on the hit 2022 novel by Freida McFadden, The Housemaid follows Millie, a live-in housekeeper played by Sydney Sweeney, as she becomes entangled in the unsettling dynamics of the wealthy and secretive Winchester family. Amanda Seyfried plays Nina, the family’s icy matriarch who appears to take issue with Millie from the start. Directed by Paul Feig, this psychological thriller promises plenty of shocks and surprises.

3. The Pitt Season 2

The critically-acclaimed medical drama series The Pitt returns for its second season following a breakout first run and multiple major award wins, including Outstanding Drama Series at the Emmys. The series follows emergency room doctors and nurses through a single grueling shift, with each episode unfolding in real time. This season, their shift occurs during the chaotic US Independence Day weekend, so expect fireworks!

4. The Night Manager Season 2

A decade after its original run, The Night Manager reminds us it’s never too late for a comeback. . Tom Hiddleston returns as Jonathan Pine, a former military officer turned undercover agent for the UK Foreign Office. The second season of The Night Manager finds Pine infiltrating the inner circle of a powerful Colombian arms dealer and his seductive associate, pushing the high-stakes espionage thriller into darker, more dangerous territory.

5. Mercy

Director Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted; Night Watch) is back for another exciting action sci-fi film starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson. Set in a near-future Los Angeles, Mercy imagines a justice system where artificial intelligence presides over criminal trials. Pratt plays a detective accused of murdering his wife, given just 90 minutes to convince an AI judge, voiced by Ferguson, of his innocence before the system decides whether he lives or dies.

January’s lineup doesn’t stop with these five picks. Streaming platforms are also rolling out new seasons of Industry (HBO Max), Shrinking (Apple TV), and Bridgerton (Netflix), as well as Game of Thrones spin-off A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (HBO Max), and Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man (Disney+). And in case you’re one of the few people who has not seen it, Stranger Things’ final episode ever dropped on Netflix on New Year’s Day.

Plus, cinephiles are in for a treat thanks to the Film Development Council of the Philippines’ World Cinema screenings starting January 28th that includes highly-anticipated foreign-language titles like It Was Just an Accident and Sentimental Value.
