Metro Manila, Philippines – Several areas in the country are still under Signal No. 1 as Tropical Depression Wilma maintained its strength and is expected to make its initial landfall over Eastern Visayas on Saturday, Dec. 6.
According to PAGASA’s 8 a.m. bulletin, Wilma was last located 70 kilometers (km) East of Borongan City, Eastern Samar, slowly moving westward with maximum sustained winds of 45 km per hour (kph)
The weather bureau said Signal No. 1 covers the following:
Luzon:
Sorsogon, Masbate including Ticao and Burias Islands, Romblon, the southern portion of Oriental Mindoro, the southern portion of Occidental Mindoro, and the northernmost portion of Palawan including Cuyo, Calamian, and Cagayancillo Islands
Visayas:
Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Cebu including Bantayan and Camotes Islands, Bohol, Negros Occidental, Siquijor, the northern and central portions of Negros Oriental, Guimaras, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, and Antique
Mindanao:
Surigao del Norte including Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands, Dinagat Islands, the northern portion of Surigao del Sur, the northern portion of Agusan del Norte, and Camiguin
PAGASA said Wilma is forecast to emerge over Sulu Sea and may pass over northern Palawan by Monday morning.
While still over the Philippine Sea, the tropical depression may trigger intense rain in the Samar provinces and Biliran.
