Metro Manila, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has set for March 30, 2026 the first parliamentary polls in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The body promulgated the calendar of activities and periods of certain prohibited acts in connection with the elections in a resolution dated Nov. 19 but released Tuesday, Nov. 25.

According to the schedule, the election period will start on Jan. 29 next year and end on April 14. The last day to post the list of candidates will be on Feb. 2. Candidates will then campaign from Feb. 12 to March 28.

The new election day was in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling in September that declared the Bangsamoro Parliamentary Redistricting Act of 2025 as unconstitutional. The parliamentary polls were originally set for Oct. 13.

In its ruling, the high court ordered the Bangsamoro Transition Authority to determine the parliamentary districts for the first regular election for parliament members by Oct. 30 at the latest.

The districts in BARMM have to be reconstituted in light of the Supreme Court ruling in 2024 that Sulu is not part of the autonomous region.
