Metro Manila, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday, Nov. 24, said he and his family are “very worried” about his sister, Sen. Imee Marcos, adding that the person the public sees is “not his sister.”
When asked about his reactions to public accusations by the senator that he is into drugs, Marcos said that he would rather not wash his family’s “dirty linen” in public.
He then said that he and some family members and friends have been worried about the senator “for a while now.”
“And the reason that is because the lady that we see talking on TV is not my sister and that view is shared by our cousins and friends,” he said.
“‘Hindi siya ‘yan, hindi siya ‘yan’ [That’s not her]. That’s why we’re worried. We are very worried about her. I hope she feels better soon,” he added.
In a social media post right after the president’s briefing, the senator released a short post contradicting his brother’s statement.
“Bongbong, ako ‘to, kung ano-ano na nakikita mo ading. Patunayan mong mali ako – gusto kong mali ako,” the senator said.
[Translation: Bongbong, this is me, you are seeing things my younger brother. Prove that I’m wrong – I want to be wrong.]
The senator accused the president of using illegal drugs at the rally of Iglesia Ni Cristo at the Quirino Grandstand on Nov.17, which the Palace described as a “desperate” move.
She also accused the first lady and some of the president’s friends of using illegal drugs.
