Hard work, honesty fuel Duterte high trust scores – OVP

Impeached Vice President Sara Duterte (Office of the Vice President/Facebook)

Metro Manila, Philippines – The Office of the Vice President (OVP) attributed Vice President Sara Duterte’s continued strong public trust scores to her consistent hard work, sincerity, and refusal to politicize government aid.

In the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey in June 2025, Duterte received a 61% trust rating – the highest among all national officials – despite a rift with Malacañang.“Getting a high rating of above 50 percent will make anyone happy,” OVP spokesperson Ruth Castelo said in an interview with ‘The Newsmaker.’ “The vice president welcomes this survey and she intends to continue to work harder so we can increase that confidence rating,” she said.Asked what drives this trust level, Castelo pointed to Duterte’s visible work ethic and authentic approach to public service.“I would say that the people see how hardworking the vice president is. Nakikita ng tao na nagtatrabaho talaga siya,” Castelo said.[Translation: People see that the vice president is truly working.]She said Duterte often travels to parts of the country and remains focused on addressing the needs of Filipinos.“Lahat po ng lumalabas sa Office of the Vice President na tulong – school bags, relief goods, food boxes – wala pong pangalan. Ang nakalagay lang, ‘Republic of the Philippines, Office of the Vice President,’” Castelo said.[Translation: All assistance distributed by the OVP bears no name. It only says ‘Republic of the Philippines, Office of the Vice President.] She added that this reflects Duterte’s understanding that public funds belong to the people, not to any politician.
