Metro Manila, Philippines – From exploring tropical islands to visiting supermarkets, Korean superstar Song Joong-ki says he hopes to experience more of the local side of the Philippines on his next trip.
The Korean A-lister made the promise during his press conference on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena. He said the event felt too short and left him wanting to return.
“I want to visit supermarkets, places that Filipino locals want to visit. Those are the places I want to go. The vibes where the locals go, that’s what I prefer when I travel,” Song said during the fan event.
This was his second time in the Philippines, following a personal trip to Cebu about 15 years ago. Since then, his connection with Filipinos—both in Korea and abroad—has continued to grow.
“I have some Philippine friends in Korea through my Korean friends. Then when I stayed in Italy with my wife, I also met some Filipino friends there. For us, the image of Filipino people is so kind and friendly, so I really wanted to come to the Philippines because I have such a good image of the country,” he shared.
Song also expressed curiosity about the country’s island destinations, even asking fans for travel tips.
“I heard there are many beautiful islands. I want to visit some paradise, so please recommend some places to go,” he said.
The event, titled “IAM Song Joong-ki: Live in Manila,” marked his official introduction as the newest brand ambassador for IAM Worldwide, a Filipino health and wellness brand.
Known for hit K-dramas like “Arthdal Chronicles,” “Vincenzo,” and “Reborn Rich,” Song Joong-ki has become one of South Korea’s most beloved leading men — with a passionate fanbase in the Philippines that continues to grow.
