Metro Manila, Philippines – Some may have rains but the weather in general would be warm and humid this Holy Week, forecasters said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued a special weather outlook that stated a frontal system and the easterlies will be the dominant condition.
Holy Monday
The frontal system, where warm and cold air meet, may bring cloudy skies with rains over northern Luzon such as Cagayan, Batanes, and Apayao.
Easterlies, or winds coming from the east, may cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Zamboanga Peninsula and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
The rest of the country may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies due to the easterlies. PAGASA said possible isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may occur in eastern areas.
Holy Tuesday
The frontal system may bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, and Aurora.
The rest of the country may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies. There may be brief rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the eastern part.
Holy Wednesday to Easter Sunday
Bring out the coolers and turn the air conditioner on low for warm and humid conditions nationwide. The easterlies may cause localized rain showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.
On Monday, April 14, PAGASA said 25 areas may register a “danger” level heat index, or the felt temperature relative to humidity combined with air temperature..
“The public is advised to limit physical outdoor activities between 10 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon to avoid fatigue, heat cramps, and heat exhaustion,” PAGASA weather division chief Juanito Galang said.
“Drinking water regularly, taking breaks in shaded areas, and wearing light-colored clothing are also encouraged,” he said.
PAGASA earlier said the summer heat can intensify from end-April to May.
