DeMarcus Cousins tows unbeaten SGA past Beirut in Dubai

Metro Manila, Philippines – Strong Group Athletics (SGA) picked up its third straight victory in as many games after defeating Beirut First, 85-78, to remain unscathed in Group A in the 34th Dubai International Basketball Championship on Tuesday at the Al Nasr Club.

Former NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins led the way for the Philippine side SGA with 26 points and 12 rebounds.

Ange Kouame also had a productive outing for SGA as he finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.

SGA pulled away in the second period following a tight contest in the opening frame, building a 49-34 edge at the halftime break.

Beirut First tried to stage a comeback but could not keep in step in the second half as SGA unleashed its firepower to secure the win.

Dave Ildefonso added 12 points for SGA.

Beirut First suffered its first taste of defeat and fell to 2-1 in Group A.
