Metro Manila, Philippines — More benefit packages are in store for approval of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) board on Friday, Nov. 15.
In a news release, the Department of Health (DOH) said the benefit packages are for heart attack, 10 rare diseases, preventive oral health at primary care, peritoneal dialysis, and assistive mobility devices.
The agency listed the specifics as:
+ A package for acute myocardial infarction or heart attacks across the continuum of care
+ Ten rare diseases, namely, maple syrup urine, methylmalonic acidemia/propionic acidemia, galactosemia, phenylketonuria, gaucher disease, pompe disease, fabry disease, MPS II (hunter syndrome), MPS IV (morquio syndrome), and osteogenesis imperfecta
+ Preventive oral health services to complement the PhilHealth Konsulta package
+ Improved coverage for peritoneal dialysis
+ Assistive mobility devices for priority conditions that affect the most in need for physical rehabilitation.
The DOH said the board will meet before the end of the month to act on the proposed additional benefits.
Lawmakers have criticized PhilHealth for low coverage of health bills amid the decision to transfer P89.9 billion in unused funds to state coffers.
