
Metro Manila, Philippines — The University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons clinched a Final Four spot after a 70-59 win over the Adamson University Soaring Falcons in UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
JD Cagulangan led the way for the Fighting Maroons with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting and three rebounds.
UP was a nightmare on the defensive end, forcing the Soaring Falcons to commit 28 turnovers (the most by any team this season).
The Fighting Maroons finished the match with a 12-2 run to seal the victory.
With the triumph, UP is marching towards its sixth straight playoffs appearance.
Gani Stevens delivered his best outing yet for the Fighting Maroons with 10 points and four rebounds.
Matthew Montebon had 14 markers and five boards for Adamson.
UP remained at second place with an 8-1 win-loss record, while the Soaring Falcons are in a three-way logjam with the Far Eastern University Tamaraws and Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles at the fifth spot with a 3-7 win-loss slate.
