Metro Manila, Philippines — The De La Salle University Lady Spikers stunned the reigning champions National University Lady Bulldogs, 32-30, 14-25, 25-22, 25-21, in their second round showdown in the 2024 Shakey’s Super League Pre-season Championship on Sunday at Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila.
This marked the end to the Lady Bulldogs’ 28-game winning streak in the tournament.
Former UAAP Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player Angel Canino led the rebuilding Lady Spikers with 20 points.
Shevana Laput added 18 points for La Salle, dropping most of them in the fourth set to seal the huge victory.
Rookie setter Mikole Reyes was a reliable presence for the Lady Spikers with 16 excellent sets.
Alyssa Solomon paced NU with 18 points, while Bella Belen and Vange Alinsug each had 13 points.
