Metro Manila, Philippines — Fnatic ONIC Philippines finally overcame the hump and captured its first-ever Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Philippines title.
ONIC outlasted Aurora MLBB, 4-3, in the best-of-seven grand finals of Season 14 on Sunday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati City.
ONIC, holding a commanding 3-1 lead, overcame a reverse sweep attempt by Aurora to rule the Land of Dawn in a near-perfect season.
In the winner-take-all Game 7, veteran gold laner Duane “Kelra” Pillas took charge for ONIC with his Beatrix on the way to the championship while also bagging the Finals Most Valuable Player award.
ONIC took home the lion’s share of the $150,000 (about ₱8.6 million) prize pool.
ONIC and Aurora will represent the country in the M6 World Championship which is slated to run from Nov. 21 to Dec. 15 in Malaysia. The Philippines is seeking a five-peat in the prestigious tournament.
