
Metro Manila, Philippines — One of the biggest rivalries in collegiate sports will take the spotlight again in the weekend offerings of UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball.
Defending champions De La Salle University Green Archers face the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles on Sept. 15 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The Green Archers, undefeated after two games, are spearheaded by reigning Most Valuable Player Kevin Quiambao who is averaging 21.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists.
Meanwhile, the young Blue Eagles are led by Joshua Lazaro and Shawn Tuano who both finished in double digits in their two losses so far this season.
La Salle has a 40.4 percent shooting clip from the field in its first two outings, compared to Ateneo which shot 35.4 percent.
The Green Archers are dominating the boards with an average of 50.5 rebounds, while the Blue Eagles had 39.
Ateneo, on the other hand, is more disciplined in taking care of the ball with an average of 11 turnovers, while La Salle had 19.
