
Metro Manila, Philippines — A former broadcast journalist-turned-government official will head the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), a Palace source told NewsWatch Plus.
Senior Undersecretary for Strategic Communications Cesar Chavez would replace Cheloy Garafil in oath taking ceremonies to be administered by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Thursday afternoon, Sept. 5.
Malacañang has yet to issue an official statement on Chavez’s appointment.
Chavez will be the third PCO chief of the administration.
He was a former radio reporter, anchor, and station manager of DZRH.
Chavez was former undersecretary for railways at the Department of Transportation and deputy administrator of the Light Rail Transit Authority.
He was also the former chief of staff of then Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
