Metro Manila, Philippines – Wanted religious leader Apollo Quiboloy remains in the country, Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos said on Thursday, Aug. 22.
Authorities have yet to arrest Quiboloy, who is facing child and sexual abuse charges and has a standing arrest warrant.
Abalos said operations are ongoing to arrest the fugitive pastor.
“Sa aming report, lumalabas na nasa Pilipinas pa ho si Pastor Quiboloy sa report na ibinibigay sa’kin,” Abalos told reporters.
[Translation: Based on the report I received, Pastor Quiboloy is still in the Philippines.]
“Makikita n’yo naman ang mga pulis ay talagang may order po ‘yan, talagang tignan sa bawat sulok ng Pilipinas po ito,” he added.
[Translation: The police have a standing order to check each corner of the Philippines.]
Davao Police Office chief PBGen. Nicolas Torre III earlier said Quiboloy is hiding at the compound of his group, Kingdom of Jesus Christ, in Davao City.
Torre said followers of the pastor are guarding the compound’s vicinity.
In June, the police entered the compound and tried to serve an arrest warrant on Quiboloy but failed.
