
Metro Manila, Philippines — Poverty incidence in the country declined by two points to 10.9% in 2023, a biennial survey by the statistics agency showed.
This rate is lower than the 13.2% logged in 2021, the Philippine Statistics Authority said in a press briefing on Thursday, Aug. 15.
The data translates to 2.99 million Filipinos with inadequate income to meet food and basic needs.
The poverty threshold is P13,873 per month for a family of five.
