
Metro Manila, Philippines — The combined effects of the two recent tropical cyclones and the southwest monsoon killed at least 28 people, disaster management officials said Sunday.
In its recent report, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said 10 fatalities have been verified while 18 needed validation.
The NDRRMC said four people were reported hurt while two were missing.
Around 3.6 million people or over 905,000 families were affected by tropical depression Butchoy, super typhoon Carina, and the habagat.
The heavy rains and flooding displaced one million Filipinos.
The bad weather inundated around 200 areas in Central Luzon and 36 areas in Metro Manila.
The NDRRMC said the government has provided ₱145 million worth of aid.
