Newborn Carina: A rainbow after the rain

Metro Manila, Philippines – Amid the tragedy and disaster from the calamity, a new life out of an evacuation center.

At her full-term, Maria Theresa Ragual sought safety from the raging storm at Malanday National High School in Valenzuela City.

It was the right time for her and the baby amid the chaos of evacuation. She gave birth with the help of nursing student Chinkee Condeza on July 24.

In a Facebook post, the Valenzuela City government said Ragual named her baby Carina, after the typhoon that displaced hundreds of thousands.

“Indeed, there’s always a rainbow after the rain,” the city government said.

Most parts of the country are still encountering rains brought by the southwest monsoon, triggered by Typhoon Carina that was out of the country on Thursday. – Daniza Fernandez
