Metro Manila, Philippines— Former US President Barack Obama and wife, Michelle, have officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s nominee for president.
In a tweet, Barack said he and Michelle called Harris and told her that she would do good as leader of the country.
“We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic president of the United States, and that she has our full support,” said Barack.
He also urged American voters to join them in making sure Harris wins the presidency.
“This critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you’ll join us,” he added.
Barack also shared a video of the phone conversation with Harris.
“I am so proud of you, this is going to be historic,” said Michelle.
“Michelle and I could not be prouder to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office,” said Barack.
Harris said the support of the Obamas means so much to her.
“The words you have spoken and the friendship you have given over all these years mean more than I can express,” said Harris.
