
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 22)— A United States government official will visit Manila as part of a three-nation trip to strengthen economic cooperation with key allies.
In a press release over the weekend, the US State Department said Undersecretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Jose Fernandez will be traveling to the Philippines, Vietnam, and South Korea from Jan. 22 to Feb. 1.
In Manila, he is set to discuss enhancing the Philippines’ economic resilience through supply chain diversification.
Fernandez is also expected to highlight the US’ investment opportunities in the critical minerals sector.
In Vietnam, Fernandez will focus on increasing trade opportunities, clean energy promotion, semiconductor and supply chain cooperation, and the upgrading of the two nations’ relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
In South Korea, Fernandez will co-chair the 8th US-ROK Senior Economic Dialogue, underlining the strong bilateral trade and investment relationship with the Republic of Korea and continued cooperation in areas such as critical minerals, semiconductors, and energy security.
