Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 22) — The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) suspended two airport policemen after they illegally passed through the EDSA bus carousel lane and argued with a Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) enforcer.

In a statement, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said the confrontation started when the airport police car was caught passing through the northbound bus lane on Sunday afternoon.

The driver then refused to give his license and attempted to grab the MMDA enforcer’s cellphone when he tried to record the confrontation, the DOTr added.

\”We cannot just tolerate this kind of abuse. It is embarrassing and this must stop,\” MIAA Acting General Manager Eric Ines said in a statement.

\”Violation pa rin ‘yung going through the Bus Carousel,\” he added.

Ines also said the MIAA will also investigate the incident.

The DOTr said only authorized buses, vehicles of the Philippine National Police and emergency vehicles are allowed to ply along the EDSA busway route.
