Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — No university student is exempt from pulling all-nighters, and many an all-nighter have taken place in McDonald’s stores that remained open 24/7. This was the truth that inspired McDonald’s to open Night Classrooms in 2023.
A program that hopes to provide an improved learning environment for Filipino students, Night Classrooms transformed select McDonald’s restaurants into dedicated study spaces for after hours. Whereas most Filipino homes or dorms were cramped and noisy, McDonald’s Night Classrooms offered quiet, well-lit spaces, fast and reliable internet connection, free laptops to use and exclusive meal deals for students. SMART, Google and Coca-Cola were supportive partners in this nationwide program.

“McDonald’s has always been a go-to place for students, both for school breaks and for study sessions,” shares Oliver Rabatan, McDonald’s Philippines VP and Chief Marketing Officer. “During the pandemic, we supported them while they were struggling with distance learning. Night Classroom is how we commit to continue supporting them in their schoolwork.”

Throughout schoolyear 2023, Night Classrooms welcomed an average of 600 students per store, in over 100 university communities all over the country.
