Pagadian City launches first air-conditioned public market meat stalls in Mindanao

Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur (CNN Philippines, January 16) — Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur launched on Tuesday the first air-conditioned public market meat stalls in Mindanao inside its Agora Complex.

Pagadian City Mayor Samuel Co said the ₱20 million project consisted of 77 stalls with their own sink and space for refrigerators, as well as a meat processing section.

Co said the building was designed to have separate entryways for customers and meat products, unlike in the previous area where they take the same alley.

Rudy Malusay, president of Pagadian Meat Retailers Association, said the project would ensure that their meat products are safe for public consumption.

She also said retailers would maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the new building.

Department of Trade and Industry Provincial Director Marlon Alibata said that, along with Department of Agriculture personnel, they would continue monitoring prices in the project.
