Zamboanga del Sur (CNN Philippines, January 12) — A gunman shot dead a barangay chairman in Zamboanga del Sur Friday morning outside his residence in a neighboring village, authorities said.
Police said the victim, Moden Abu of Barangay Binuatan in Dinas town, was scheduled to oversee Friday prayers at a mosque. Abu was on a motorcycle on his way to his house in Barangay Poblacion when a gunman shot him.
Police said the gunman stepped out of his gray-black Toyota Vios and shot Abu again before fleeing the scene.
The police said they have yet to identify the gunman and the motive.
