Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 4) — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is investigating an oil spill off the coast of Davao City.
The PCG-Southeastern Mindanao on Wednesday said it cleaned up an estimated 30 liters of oil off Davsam Port after receiving a report in the evening of Jan. 2.
Reaching up to 200 cubic meters, the sludge—a gel-like deposit usually caused by tainted engine oil—was contained by oil spill absorbent booms and pads.
“Accordingly, the source of spill is still subject for further verification as of the moment,” the PCG said.
