Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 31) — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte on Sunday expressed optimism for 2024 and wished renewed hope, strength, and determination for Filipinos.
“As we welcome 2024 with great optimism, I call upon every Filipino from every corner of the world to contribute to the future of our beloved motherland,” Marcos said in his New Year’s message.
The chief executive also said he is one with the country as it “embraces a new dawn of opportunity and hope” for a fresh start, citing reflections on “lessons learned” in 2023.
“Let the dream of a revitalized Philippines—a Bagong Pilipinas (new Philippines)—guide our every endeavor as we bring forth peace, progress, and prosperity for all,” he added.
Meanwhile, Duterte wished for Filipinos’ strength to unify as a nation.
“Happy New Year po, mga kababayan. Hangad ko na sa pagsapit ng Bagong Taon, ang bawat isa sa atin ay magkakaroon ng panibagong pag-asa, lakas, at matibay na determinasyon na magsumikap at magkaisa para sa ikabubuti ng bawat Pilipino,” she said.
Duterte also hopes that Filipinos will have a “positive and progressive” outlook as the country celebrates the New Year.
