Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 18)— An official of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines has urged adults to provide the youth support and guidance while they learn from their faults, as the Church celebrated National Youth Day last Dec. 16.
Speaking to CNN Philippines’ Newsroom Ngayon, Fr. Ramon Jade Licuanan, executive secretary of CBCP Episcopal Commission on Youth, said adults tend to scrap the youth’s efforts when they make mistakes.
“The youth needs to have the assurance that they are accepted kahit na nagkamali sila [even they made mistakes],” Licuanan said Monday. “Be sure you are there beside them when they are going through the learning process.”
Licuanan also urged adults to give the youth significant roles as they are informed, talented, and actively involved in society.
“Bring [the youth] at the forefront. You will discover, you will be amazed of how gifted, talented and passionate they are,” the priest said.
The Catholic Church celebrates National Youth Day every Dec. 16, the first day of Misa de Gallo or Simbang Gabi.
