MMFF 2023 Parade of Stars to be held in Camanava on Dec. 16

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 8) — In a first for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), this year’s Parade of Stars will pass through the four cities of the Camanava area on Dec. 16.

The parade will feature the decorative floats that represent the 10 movies in the festival lineup, carrying celebrities featured in the film entries.

Among them are “A Family of 2 (A Mother and Son Story),” “(K)Ampon,” “Penduko,” “Rewind,” “Becky and Badette,” “Broken Heart’s Trip,” “Firefly,” “GomBurZa,” “Mallari,” and “When I Met You in Tokyo.”

The floats will pass through Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela – collectively known as Camanava – for an estimated three hours and a route length of 8.7 kilometers, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Friday.

“This year’s parade of stars will traverse four cities as we want more people to have a glimpse of the cast of the 10 MMFF entries,” said MMDA acting chairman and MMFF overall head Don Artes.

The annual tradition will kick off at 2 p.m. at the Navotas Centennial Park, and will travel through C4, Samson Road, and Mc Arthur Highway up to the Valenzuela People’s Park, where the main event will take place.

With the influx of spectators seen to affect traffic flow, local officials and other authorities have prepared a traffic management plan that includes deploying around 1,000 personnel along the parade route, the MMDA said.

It added that it will implement temporary lane closures and counterflow from noon to 8 p.m. along the following roads:

– C-4 Road (from Navotas Centennial Park to A Mabini St.)

– Samson Road (from A. Mabini St. to Monumento Circle)

– McArthur Highway (from Monumento Circle to C. Santos Street)

The agency advised motorists to take these alternate routes:

– From Malabon to Navotas, take Gov. Pascual and M. H. Del Pillar Street

– If heading to Monumento, take Gov. I Santiago Road, M. H. Del Plar Street, and Samson Road

– Motorists may also take North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) northbound and southbound

This year’s MMFF will run from Dec. 25 to Jan. 7.
