Laguna municipality suspends classes, transactions due to bomb threat

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 5)— Local authorities of Pangil, Laguna have canceled classes and government transactions in the area due to a bomb threat on Tuesday morning.

Pangil Mayor Gerald Aritao said the threat was received through a letter.

“Classes in all levels, both private and government schools, in the entirety of Pangil, Laguna are hereby suspended due to bomb threat,” Aritao added in an advisory.

“Suspendido ang lahat ng transaksyon sa Lokal na Pamahalaan ng Pangil ngayong Martes, Disyembre 5, 2023,” he said in a separate social media post.

Aritao also said authorities have so far not found any bomb in the area. He warned the public about false information claiming that there was a bomb found.

“Wala pang nakikitang Bomba o hindi totoong may nakita ng Bomba. Naka highest alert ang buong pwersa ng kapulisan ng Pangil at LLPO sa insidenteng ito,” he said in a separate statement.

He said they have asked the Laguna Police Provincial Office to deploy a bomb squad to investigate the threat.

The mayor reminded the public to be vigilant of their surroundings.

The threat follows a bomb blast in Marawi City on Sunday that left four people dead and at least 46 others injured.
