Ramon Ang among Forbes Asia’s 2023 Heroes of Philanthropy

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 30) — Forbes Asia has recognized 15 personalities in the Asia-Pacific region for their philanthropic actions, including San Miguel Corp. (SMC) President and Chief Executive Officer Ramon Ang who is the only Filipino in the list.

Ang was acknowledged for his commitment to donate ₱500 million to build schools for underprivileged children in Manila.

“Since 2020, Ang, through his RSA Foundation, has personally contributed over P150 million to scholarship grants and medical aid,” Forbes Asia said. 

It also cited San Miguel Foundation’s spending of over ₱1 billion to build five schools in Metro Manila, donating ₱14.8 billion to support relief measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, and earmarking ₱3 billion for river cleanup initiatives.

Other business executives recognized were from Australia, Japan, China, Thailand, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and New Zealand.

Prior to Ang, other Filipinos who made it in the list were Actress Angel Locsin, tycoon Hans Sy of the SM Group, and real estate giant Manuel Villar to name a few.
