Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 31) — The Nomad List, an international remote work platform, has ranked the Philippines as the 7th “fastest growing remote work hubs” in the world.
The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) cited the released video of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Nomad List data, reporting that 9 out 10 of the fastest-growing remote work hubs in the world can be found in Asia.
“Tracking the country’s five-year growth from 2018 to 2022, the Philippines posted +78-percent growth. For 2023, it recorded +60-percent growth based on 10 months of data,” the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Last year, it posted +1,183-percent growth,” PCO added.
According to the ranking process of Nomad List, places were ranked by growth rates of “check-ins made to places by tens of thousands” of its members using a live analysis for over 200,000 check-ins data.
The report provides travelers and workers information on the growing remote work hubs in the world. It also measures the popularity of places.
The Nomad List data covered a five-year growth period of the places.
It also noted that COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 impacted the numbers in 2020 and 2021 and may continue to do so for a while.
“The Marcos government has been enticing businesses to come to the Philippines, considering the country’s young, highly skilled, and English-speaking workforce,” the PCO said.
The PCO said that the country is also ideal to establish businesses as it has sustained its “growth rate, current bureaucratic reforms, and the administration’s ongoing thrust for infrastructure development and digitalization.”
