Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 28) — The Philippines may start repatriating its citizens from Lebanon starting next week, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).

While the government has yet to set a target date, DMW officer-in-charge Hans Leo Cacdac said they want to mount repatriation flights “the soonest possible time.”

“But we are looking at the possibility of this coming week na meron na maililikas (that we can repatriate) from there and we are working on the rest in the coming weeks,” he told a news forum on Saturday.

Cacdac said 124 overseas Filipino workers have already requested repatriation, lower than the figure reported earlier.

The Philippines placed Lebanon under Alert Level 3 last week as border tensions escalated between Israel and Islamist group Hezbollah.

This means Filipinos are urged to leave Lebanon.
