PNP on ‘full-alert’ status for BSKE, Undas

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 27) —The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy on Saturday more than 180,000 security personnel as part of its full-alert status for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) and Undas.

“The full deployment of 187,600 PNP personnel for election duties will commence tomorrow…with the alert status elevated to full-alert. However, regional commanders possess the discretion to deploy personnel under their operational control supervision,” PNP Chief Benjamin Acorda Jr said in a press briefing on Friday.

He added that the deployment is especially for the remote areas with a history of election-related incidents.

“Our objective is to provide a safe environmental space for voters,” Acorda added.

Meanwhile, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) led the send-off and turnover ceremony of government forces and resources of different security agencies in Camp Crame, Quezon City on Monday.
