Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 25) — A day after filing a complaint for grave threat against former President Rodrigo Duterte, ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro is urging the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to investigate Duterte’s television show for supposedly promoting violence.
Castro said she is considering filing a complaint before the MTRCB and the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) against Duterte’s “Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa,” which airs on Sonshine Media Network Inc. (SMNI).
She said Duterte made the threat against her during an Oct. 10 episode of his show. While its YouTube livestream has been taken down, videos of the program are still available online.
Castro said another SMNI program should be investigated allegedly for red tagging, but did not provide details.
“Ito nag-a-advocate ng violence, hindi niyo ba ‘to iimbestigahan MTRCB at KBP? Baka mag-file kami ng complaint sa MTRCB at KBP,” Castro said on Wednesday. SMNI is not a KBP member.
“Pinag-iisipan namin yung program na nag-a-advocate ng misinformation tulad ng programa ni dating Presidente Duterte, yung programa ng dalawang notorious na red tagger na kilala na natin yun. Yun ang pinag-iisipan nating ireklamo,” Castro said.
[Translation: This show is advocating violence, won’t the MTRCB and KBP investigate? We might file a complaint with the MTRCB and KBP. We are thinking about the program that advocates misinformation like the one of former President Duterte, the program of the two who are notorious red taggers. We are thinking about filing complaints against the show.]
Castro also fired back at Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte for saying that government officials should not be onion-skinned after she filed a criminal complaint against his father.
She challenged Rep. Dueterte to disclose what he knows about her and other members of the Makabayan bloc.
“Hindi na presidente ang tatay niya. Kailangang harapin na niya (ex-President Duterte) ang consequences at accountability na gagawin niya ngayon,” Castro pointed out.
“Yung alam niya tungkol sa amin, eh di sabihin niya,” she added. “Ano ba ang alam niya sa amin? Hindi naman kami natatakot na ibulgar niya yun, kung ano mang alam niya.”
[Translation: His father is not president anymore. He has to face the consequences and must be held accountable. He should reveal the things he claims to know about us. What does he know? We are not afraid of what he has to say.]
