Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 7) — Former national coach Chot Reyes proudly congratulated Gilas Pilipinas as the country celebrated the team’s successful gold medal triumph to cap their 19th Asian Games campaign.
“YEEESSSS!!! GILAS WINS! GOLD! So, so proud of Coach Tim and the entire team #PUSO,” Reyes said on Instagram.
Reyes earlier stepped aside from coaching Gilas after the team’s FIBA World Cup campaign, taking “full responsibility” for the squad’s disappointing 1-4 win-loss slate.
Gilas, who absorbed a heartbreaking 90-91 loss to Jordan in the World Cup, took down the Middle Eastern team with a 70-60 victory to bag the historic Asian Games gold.
